Why did I write Venice Beach instead of Los Angeles?
What I didn’t know about L.A. is that it’s incredibly vast! Not only it’s spread-out, it’s probably the most traffic-busy city I’ve ever seen.
With an urban population that exceeds 15 millions people this city is not served by a metro due to the seismic activity of the region, so I just let you imagine the traffic conditions.
In peak hours the 7 lanes highway are completely congestioned with traffic, and the urban area is so vast and yet congestioned that it takes hours to get from a suburb to another taking urban streets!
So I strongly advise to choose your hotel having regard of the area you want to visit. Of course you want to visit the whole city once there, but for example I wanted to spend most time at the beach, this is why we chose our hotel to be based in Venice Beach!
Maeby you could even considering changing area from time to time. But that’s only my advice, I don’t know if it’s really comfortable to keep packing and unpacking all the time..
This said, I must also admit that it’s quite a pleasure driving around L.A, especially if you are so lucky to be driving a convertible Mustang
Anyway, we chose the Inn at Venice Beach, a cute and well designed hotel walking distance from the iconic beach!
Our room was carefully furnished and decorated, with even a small kitchen area! I loved my big bed and elegant bathroom!
Breakfast was included in the price, and the breakfast area was the cutest I’ve ever seen!
Here some pics of our room, as well as the close Venice Beach!
insta selfie in the bathroom before getting out
breakfast and public area – isn’t it lovely??
some decorations and details of the hotel.
I found it fresh and tasteful!
Other nice hotels in Venice could be the Venice on the Beach, situated just on the beach with beach and ocean view, or the Venice Suites, with a stunning rooftop area.
almost next door to the hotel on Washington Boulevard
there’s an excellent japanese restaurant: Kifune
I like this picture very much,
even if I have the stupidest face 😀
One of the many “physicians” you can find in Venice Beach.
Basically, they’re just dudes selling you pot cause in California it’s legal
if you have a prescritpion – which I understood it’s not at all hard to obtain..
Some scenic views from Venice Pier
We wanted to visit as well the Southern beaches such Redondo Beach (where most OC has been shot) and Long Beach but we didn’t make it in time.
We did get to Malibu though the last day before leaving! Coming soon!
Which is your favourite beach in L.A.?

Great review, Pam. Like the decor of this place, especially the poster above a headboard. And, I also like the picture of you with “the stupidest face” [wink]
Ahah thank you Memographer
Great post Here too are many “physicians”. They administer some weed 😉

Thanks for the tips. Was thinking of driving around the US so it’s handy to know. I like the idea of staying in different areas of cities. You definitely experience more of what is on offer.

You are so welcome Marcello! I loved staying in Venice, but loved the silver lake area as well! You are going to love it!! Tell me how it goes!!!
Ciao Pam
