MARINA DIVING LAMPEDUSA

When I was a kid I used to dream to be the little Mermaid.

Dad used to bring me to the beach, and I spent hours and hours in the water, with blue lips and squashy fingers.

Now that I grew up, nothing pretty much changed.

Mask and fins are the first thing I pack for a summer holiday, and I can spend hours underwater making acquaintance with all of its locals.

But I never tried diving before!

Until this summer, when I met Giuseppe on the blue island of Lampedusa thanks to Bluewago.

Giuseppe left Rome and a well paid job many years ago, when he first set foot on the island of Lampedusa and immediately fell in love.

From a passion, he developed a business, and now he manages one of the most renowned diving schools in Lampedusa: Marina Diving Lampedusa.

“Will you dive with us?”

“Can I??”

With the catamaran “El Condor de Lampedusa” we sailed to a spot called “God’s pool”.

I don’t think I need to comment this nickname, do I?

With this blinding blue as background, Giuseppe started to prep us to the diving basics.

Diving suit, compressors, mask, fins, air tanks, buoyancy compensator .. with all these things on I looked like the Michelin man and could barely move.

“Jump in!”

“What? I can hardly move, I’m gonna die!!”

“Come on!”

Oh well.

Surprised by the fact that I was floating even though I was dressed as I was going to land on the moon, I started immediately to feel comfortable and pretty amazed by the fact that I could swim and breathe underwater!!

That day, Giuseppe made a girl’s dream come true.

That day I was the little Mermaid :)

Wow! The water is so clear and blue! It almost looks like the colors of the water in the Caribbean or South Pacific!

Hi Erika! Yeah, the water in Lampedusa is just stunning!! Sometimes we underrate the Med but it’s truly amazing and most of the times cheaper than those far-flung destinations!
