07 Mar 6 REASONS TO VISIT NORWAY IN MARCH Posted at 09:00h in Travel blog by Pamela Goding 0 Comments Share There’s no doubt about it, the Nordic countries have a special charme, with their colorful little wooden huts, the scent of their pristine forests, and the beauty of their enchanting yet rugged nature that leaves us speechless. Among the beautiful nordic countries Norway is certainly one of the most spectacular, worth visiting in every season. I visited it last March, and here’s why: PRICES ARE CONSIDERABLY LOWER Norway is considered out of reach by many travelers, not much because of its climate, rather than because of its prices. Unfortunately Norway is indeed very expensive, but during the winter months you can enjoy a considerably decrease of prices, due to the fact that the span going from October to March is considered low seasons in many regions and cities! Enjoy it! MORE CHANCES TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS If you intend to reach the polar circle or further, in October-November and in february-March you’ll have more chances to witness one of the most beautiful natural phenomenon on heart: the Northern lights. This is a fact, and has something to do with the position of the Earth in relation to the geomagnetic storms. DAYS GET LONGER Winter up North is long, cold and dark, and, depending on the latitiude, can last really long. In March, at approximately all latitudes, the day finally starts to win on the night, and you can finally enjoy a normal length day pretty much everywhere in Norway. WINTER BEAUTY AT TOLERABLE TEMPERATURES Especially if you intend to visit the Northern regions, you will have the possibility to experience all the beauty of the winter, at reasonable temperatures. This is because in this season temperatures finally start to rise, but to melt all the ice and snow several weeks are necessary. NORWAY WAKES UP AFTER THE LONG WINTER During the long and dark winter months the scandinavian countries enter a sort of hibernation: the Northern regions see a migration of both tourists and locals, being these the low season months, and even in the cities people like to spend more time inside, with the result that cities can look very empty and pretty boring during the winter months. In March Norway wakes up with the firsts rays of sun, a lot of activities shut for the winter open again, and in the cities it’s not rare to see the cozy cafeès crowded with happy customers enjoying a break in the sun all covered in plaids. MARCH IS NOT THE IDEAL MONTH TO VISIT MOST OF THE EUROPEAN AND INTERNATIONAL DESTINATIONS In March is too cold to visit most of the european beach destinations, most of the european capitals show their best starting from May, and even most of the international destinations are maybe better during our winter, when here’s cold and boring while in the Caribbean, Asia and Australia is peak season with ideal conditions. Norway might be just the perfect destination in March! Have you ever been to Norway? When did you visit?
