Today I’m traveling.

I’m on a train that is bringing me to Rimini, in the stunning “riviera romagnola” italian area.

I’m usually thrilled to leave my town, Trieste, but not in these days.

It’s that time of the year, the “Barcolana” time, my favorite in the whole year.

The “Barcolana” is one of the most renowned regattas in the entire world, and possibly the biggest in Europe.

For a couple of days my town becomes a sail-mecca, and the city centre is assaulted by thousands of people from all over the world.

Skippers, crew, tourists, local people, they all come to together to celebrate this fantastic event.

And the city centre becomes the scenery to many concerts, contests, stands, and a lot of other cool stuff to explore.

I remember being a kid during these days.

Me and my friends used to gallivant around the entire day, examining all the stands and all the goods exposed, trying all the food from around the world and chatting with people. We had a bite on the streets in a different stand every night, and then continued to party, watching concerts and simply having a good time until late night, covered with the first fall layers.

This for 4 days in a row.

Ah, those where the days.

Today instead I’m leaving.

I’m taking part to the TBDI, one of the biggest tourist industry events in Italy and Europe, and I’m so excited!

But Saturday I’ll already be on a train back, there’s no way I’m missing the last night’s concert, the fireworks and the regatta!

For a triestina, it would be nforgivable 😉
