BERGEN: THE PRETTIEST LITTLE TOWN ON EARTH

08 Apr BERGEN: THE PRETTIEST LITTLE TOWN ON EARTH

BERGEN-9

There are places that call you for life.

Bergen has always been one of those for me, and I spent years after years picturing how it would be to finally see it.

There are places that high so much your expectations that when you finally visit them you get disappointed.

Well, it was definitely not the case of Bergen.

Called also “the city of the seven mountains” Bergen is the second most populous city in Norway, Norway’s busiest port and an UNESCO site with its hanseatic wooden buildings of the “bryggen” wharf.

With its maze of colorful roofs, the old town’s little alleys in which to get lost between perfectly designed doors and windows, the warm cafès, the postcard-like port and its frame of fiords and mountains, Bergen will steal your heart, like she did with me.

Seeing her waking up at dawn and disappearing in the dusk lighten up with a thousands of lights gleaming like candles was definitely one of the best days of my life.

I’m heading to Bergen for the first time this summer and this has gotten me even more excited! I knew it was going to be a charming little place, but geesh! You might be right about it being the prettiest town on earth! 😉

Hi Heather! Thanks so much for commenting! I knew Bergen was pretty as well, but it really surprised me! I bet it will pleasantly surprise you as well! And in summertime it must be even cuter :)

At an equivalent of €3.50 for those buns, those Norwegian pastries better be damn good … and I bet they are, judging by their appearance. Judging. Book. Cover. Pastry. Noms!

But that is one pretty looking city!

Hi Henry! Ahah yeah, I came to the conclusion that in scandinavia everything is damn expensive cause everything is so damn good!! 😛 and when it comes to food, it really is, normally their food quality is really high … I gladly squander my money on buns and shrimp toast whenever I visit 😀

    Hi Pamela!

I moved from Bergen 2 years ago. Your blog make me sentimental about the city. :((

Yes, Bergen is nice. The only drawback is the weather. I have lived most of my life in or around Bergen…and have a cute “bergenhouse”… And now we also have a new cosy “praguehouse”. So we will travel between two of the nicest cities in the world…

Hey Kitty Katz! It was indeed a very beautiful sunny day, but the morning was really rainy! I was so happy to get a sunny day after all! Bergen shines in the sun :)

It is Summer season yet? Since that’s when I’ll be visiting this beautiful city. I am quite thrilled and looking forward for the exploration. I am planning on buying a fjord tour, anyone in particular you would recommended? Also, where’s the best night life i.e. clubs?

Hi! When are you visiting? I guess summer season in Norway would start around June. For the Fjords tour one that really got me was the Norway in a Nutshell one, for the nightlife I have to say I didn’t experience it as my visit was very quick, but I’ve heard of the Metro Bar in Nedre Ole Bulls plass 4! Let me know how your visit in Bergen is!!! :)

One thing you have to understand….., as a local citicen of Bergen….I know that this is the most beutiful town in the world, , BUT…., it’s weird, because, if it rains…, the city is dead….and people look like trolls…, and then the sun shines, and the town is just exploding with all kinds of activities…., and people are the prettiest on earth….THAT’S the facination of Bergen….
