I don’t think you’d ever need to ask yourself what to do in Bled when you find yourself there.
The moment you see the lake and its surroundings you’ll not only immediately notice all the nice things you can have fun with, but you will probably feel the urgent pulse to jump in the water and DO them straight away.
If you are still in the process of planning a visit to Bled though, or if you never considered visiting the lake or never heard about it, a post about the many funny activities you can do in Bled is right for you!
GET ON BOARD!
The funniest thing you can do is probably getting yourself in the lake.
You can either be carried by one of the nice locals oarsman on board a traditional Pletna boat to reach the lake’s Island, or rent your own boat to row around wherever you want!
Even though we choose the first option, only because of lack of time, I’m sure the second one is a lot funnier, romantic and unique!
A rowing boat rental is around 10 EUR/hour and it can usually fit up to 4 persons.
Rentals points are located by the Castle baths very near the town centre or a little further up by the Pension Pletna, where you can also get on board the driven boat to the Island.
Get your girlfriend on one of these and row her around the blue water of the lake!!!
She’ll feel like a fairytale’s princess
HIKE, TREK, WALK, JOG
Lake Bled is so beautiful from every corner that once there you must enjoy it.
Take a walk around the whole perimeter!
Or jog around it!
A lot of nice paths are also available around the lake, the best is probably the n.6 trail taking you to Velika Osojnica, from which you can enjoy a stunning view over the lake and mountains.
Another recommended trek is the one that takes you through Vintgar Gorge to its waterfall.
We coudn’t try neither of the two, but are certainly coming back in summer to keep up with the missed activities!

MAKE A WISH ON THE ISLAND
Once in Bled you can’t miss the scenic little Island that makes the lake so special.
Take a piloted pletna or row there yourself, to explore it (it’s really tiny!!) and visit the church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.
Oh, another Church.. right.
But don’t forget you are in Lake Bled! Inside this church there’s a wishing bell that can be rang to make your dreams come true!!
On the Island there’s also a small cafè in which you can enjoy some delicious slovenian nut cakes!
Yum!!

RELAX BY THE POOL
Bled is famous for its wellness centres and pools that make it a top destination even in the most boring months.
My favourite is the Wellness Ziva at the Hotel Golf, a top wellness which features yan incredible outdoor jacuzzi in which you can soak while enjoying the amazing view over the lake and mountains!
You find all the useful infos and pictures in my previous post by clicking here -> Wellness Ziva!!
VISIT THE CASTLE
The castle of Bled was possibly the attraction that gave us the most satisfaction.
You can either trek your way up to it from the Castle baths by the lake’s shores, (it’s very short and easy, it takes 15 minutes..) or easily park the car metres from its gates.
The building itself is very pretty, with its medieval charm and design, although that’s not a real ancient castle as you would think.
After had been heavily damaged during an earthquake around 1500-something, it was restored as you see it today, and arranged as an exhibition area.
views from the castle
Inside the castle you find a historical and Printing museum, and gift shop.
But what we really appeciated was the incredible view from it, and having lunch at the Castle’s restaurant under the sun and enjoying the amazing view.
More on the restaurant, with pictures, will be feature in the next post focused on best places to eat at.
In the castle there’s another funny attraction that will be featured in a separate post.
I can only anticipate it has something to do with a wine cellar
Have you been to Lake Bled?
Which other activities/attractions do you think are worth to do?

Good photos
Loved Lake Bled. They said it was going to take around an hour and a half to walk around it, but to me it took 5+
I kept stopping by, watching the fish, the ducks, photographing the scenery… stunning place, the oxygen-full air fills you up with energy!

Lovely photos and a lovely place – i must get back again. There’s a toboggan ride on one of the hillsides overlooking the lake and I’d love to have a go on that!
