One of my favorite pictures of the Acropolis is the one above: when I look at it, it always brings me back in time.
Can you see it as well?
Can you see it as it was at the peak of its glory, with its white majestic walls and magnificent buildings and statues?
Can you see the ancient greeks gathering on its steps on their way to worshipping the Gods?
Ok, they’re tourists, but let’s use a bit of imagination
The Acropolis of Athens is one of the most impressive site in the whole World, and one of my personal favorites.
Info and pictures of the Acropolis can be found all over the internet, so with this post I though to bring you there and show you what you can see from the Acropolis instead, as there’s really much you can see from there, beside of course the beautiful Acropolis itself.

I was sitting on exactly those steps the night before while listening to the Opera!
overlooking the Odeon of Herodes Atticus
an open view over Athens, Filopappou hill and a piece of the Odeon of Heordes Atticus
view towards the Temple of Zeus
Theatre of Dionysus
views towards the Parthenon and my boyfriend
well I had to include at least one picture of the Parthenon 😉
the Erechtheion, together with the caryatids’ porch, tickled my fantasy already
when I first watched Donald Duck in Mathmagic land as a child
the ones you see at the Acropolis though are not the original caryatids:
5 of them can be admired inside the Acropolis Museum, while one is at the British Museum in London.

Remember you can climb up Lycabettus Hill
and enjoy one of the most beautiful views in Athens!
Have you ever been in Athens?
Have you visited the Acropolis?

Indeed the view from the Acropolis is one of the best in Athens, but Lycabettus Hill being higher has the best!!
