XMAS IN LJUBLJANA

CHRISTMAS LJUBLJANA NATALE LUBIANA-120

The first time I visited Ljubljana not only I completely fell in love, but it was one of the funniest and most meaningful adventures of my life.

It was 2 years ago, in the exact same day, the 8th of December, and I was so unbelievably lucky to see it covered not only with Christmas lights but even in snow.

I visited it with my boyfriend, which back then was just that guy I randomly dated, and that was our first trip together. It wasn’t intended to be much of a trip actually, as Ljubljana lies just 1 hour away from my hometown Trieste in Italy, but instead it took us more than 7 hours to reach it that time!

How?

We got caught in a snow storm and because of some massive accidents it caused  we remained stuck for 7 hours on the highway with no way out..

Surprisingly, we had a lot of fun, and that remains still nowadays one of the dearest memories of my life: we listened to good music, stared at the stars from the car’s window, chatted and laughed and made out a lot and well, I even peed in a bottle on the back seat …

We didn’t reach Ljubljana until late night, and booked us in a very fancy hotel. We sneaked in some Belgian company’s party held that night at the hotel and had so much fun that everybody wanted to take pictures with us.

The day after, can you imagine my excitement in waking up in a white and decorated Ljubljana!

But back then we didn’t do much more than touring every mulled wine stand and stare into each other’s eyes, so I was particularly keen to get back this year, to visit it more carefully and to capture her astounding beauty.

This time I visited with two of my dearest friends, and while this visit was surely very different from the first one, it was just as special!

the promenade along the river Ljubljanica is the truistic center of the city,

and leads to the main square Presernov trg

during the winter months you can find in town a lot of typical stands selling mulled wine,

and all the bars are well equipped to host the customers outside,

to not miss a single minute of the enchanting Xmas atmosphere

in Ljubljana you can of course find the Xmas markets,

they’re a bit everywhere, especially along the river promenade,

and in it you can get a lot of typical and original products,

like these ones, grappas and other products made from the typical and renowned slovenian honey

they’re delicious!!

I find Ljubljana outrageously beautiful,

especially during Xmas time,

can you imagine how beautiful it was with all the snow? :)
