GUIDE-PARIS

Paris, the city of love! And also the city of luxury.

This city maintains its charme all year around, and it’s perfect for a girlfriends’ getaway, as well of course as a romantic escapade.

Paris offers a handful of interesting things to do, but as usual, we are going to explore this city in a “blonde” way, which means perfectly girl-tailored and rather funny :)

VISIT THE ART MUSEUMS

THINGS WHAT TO DO IN PARIS-2

If you are an art lover, Paris is your paradise. A must do is of course the Louvre: this museum will take you up to an entire day, but I strongly advice to get inside this art and history cathedral :)

A standard ticket to the Louvre costs 12,00 EUR and the line can get very long. You can also buy the Paris Pass that allows you to get in several attractions and sometimes get some priority on the lines. Remember that the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays!

However, visiting all the museums the city has to offer can be quite pricey. If you have the liberty to plan your visit when you please, try to hit the city on a first Sunday of the month. All the most famous museums and most iconic monuments are open to the public for free! This is all thanks to the first Sundays program which allows you to get inside the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, Albert-Kahn musée et jardins, and the off-the-beaten path Musée de l’Assistance Publique. Most people don’t visit the museums dedicated to the history of hospitals in France’s capital, but it is one of my favorite ways to pass an afternoon.

DISCOVER EVERY CORNER OF THE CITY

THINGS WHAT TO DO IN PARIS-3   Paris is all to discover. I’ve seriously never visited a city so charming, and every corner, from the most central to the farthest is worth.   Among the most beautiful point of interest I can list the view over the Eiffel tower from the Trocadero, the Tuileries gardens just by the Louvre, Place Vendome, Alexander III bridge, the neighborhood of Montmartre and an evening walk by the Avenue de New York.   Don’t miss out on a trip to the Love Wall! This communal monument is in the charming neighborhood of Montmartre. Paris, the city of love, is the perfect home to the monument. Across the wall you can find “I Love You” written in hundreds of different languages. Whether you want to add your own personal mark or just shoot a pic with your sweetheart nearby, it is a stunning monument to behold. I challenge you not to feel your heart warming when you visit!   A very original and fun thing to do is driving around the city! There are many options for luxury car hire in Paris like Primerent, so you can roll around this magical city on a set of luxury wheels, like a Lexus, Mercedes, or Ferrari!

SHOPPING

Once in Paris I dare you resist a bit of shopping, or at least drooling on every Chanel and Louboutin boutique you encounter.   While dreaming costs nothing, if you have the budget get the item of your lifetime in the city of luxury! And take some hours to walk up and down the Champs Elysees and stare at the beautiful shop windows! :)

BOAT TOUR ON THE SEINE

THINGS WHAT TO DO IN PARIS-9

A great way to discover the city is taking a boat tour on the Seine. It will give you great views of the most iconic monuments of the city, and you can even dine on board! I know a couple who got engaged on one of these boat at dinner. How jealous!! :)

STOP BY A LADUREE SHOP

THINGS WHAT TO DO IN PARIS-5   Have you ever heard of the Laduree macarons? I’m personally mad for these little pretty drops of heaven, and every time I visit the french capital I make sure I visit a Laduree boutique and get a stockpile, but if you never tried it I strongly advice you to! You will receive them in a lovely box (I always save them to put jewelry at home) and the boutiques are incredibly gracious!

DRINK CHAMPAGNE!

THINGS WHAT TO DO IN PARIS-6

Come on, you are in the city of luxury and elegance, lapse into one of the many cafes vibe and order yourself a glass of bubbles! :)

SEE A MOULIN ROUGE SHOW

This is actually something I didn’t experience, so I can’t really give you advice on that, but that I would love to!

Ever since I watched the movie I have been intrigued by this venue, but I’ve actually heard that the actual show isn’t very special, and quite pricey .. any of you attended it ad have some advices?

VISIT VERSAILLES

THINGS WHAT TO DO IN PARIS-4

Depending on how much time you have on you I advice that you visit the palace of Versailles.

A visit to Versailles will take you an entire day, and you will have to take a train to get there. The visit though is really interesting, the Palace is absolutely outstanding and the atmosphere you will breathe there will bring you directly back to the time of Marie Antoinette!

A visit to the Palace costs 15,00 EUR, but you have also other options on the Palace’s homepage.

CEMETERY SAFARI

Cemeteries have always given me the creeps in other cities, but not Paris! Take a trip to the Père Lachaise cemetery and visit the final resting places of Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, and Georges Rodenbach. It isn’t only home to celebrities, but over 69,000 other folks as well. The tombs are stunning, especially that of Rodenbach. There is a bronze figure breaking out of the ground, which is a hot spot for photos and tourists alike. In fact, plan on visiting early in the morning because it has become quite a hot tourist spot!

WHEN TO VISIT PARIS

Paris is beautiful all year round, but there are certain perks to visiting the city in the summer.

One, the climate is much nicer. Paris can be rainy and gray during the fall and winter months. Another perk is the open-air movie theater at the Parc de la Villette. You can pass a splendid summer evening under the starts watching a lovely film. Every year the theme is different, and this past summer it was “Tous en scène’” -“Everybody on stage” in French. I caught a special showing of Where the Wild Things Are, which was to die for!

The other great thing is that it only costs 7 euro per evening. An affordable and romantic way to pass an evening, whether you are a cinema lover or not!
