SURFING FUERTEVENTURA WITH STAR SURF CAMP

07 May SURFING FUERTEVENTURA WITH STAR SURF CAMP

One of the things I liked and miss the most about Fuerteventura is getting up early in the morning to get to my surf lesson.

I’ve always been fascinated by the surf lifestyle since dad showed me the movie “Big Wednesday” as a kid, which is still today among my absolute favorites.

My first ever surf experience is dated back years ago, when I saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time in Bondi Beach and decided to buy a surf board right away without even know how to hold it.
Obviously, as you can guess, that experience didn’t end up very well: the only thing I managed succeeding with was being washed away in waves, eating a lot of sand and striking cool poses with my brand new board on the beach pretending to know how to hold it.
But I didn’t give up, quite the opposite I fell even more in love with the “surf way” and decided I needed to take lessons.

WHY YOU NEED TO TAKE SURF LESSONS

FUERTEVENTURA-35
The ocean is the most beautiful thing on earth according to me, but it can also be intimidating, and truly dangerous.
If you try to DIY you can easily be scared away by its mighty power.
Surf instructors are there to teach you how to behave safely with it, and how it works.
There are not only waves to consider when surfing, but streams, and sea bottoms, and a lot more. All stuff that could be tricky to know without their hints.
They will also teach you the correct way to catch a wave, the correct position to jump on the board and are there to tell you what you are doing wrong.
And very important, they are there to help you in case you need it.
With your school’s instructors around, you will always be safe.

WHY YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE SURF LESSONS

Surf is one of the best sports possible. In fact, it’s way more than merely a sport, it’s a lifestyle!
Taking surf lessons, you will have the possibility to hang out with like minded people, all sharing the same passion for the ocean, and this cool lifestyle.

Remember that surf lessons are not only for beginners!

If you travel by yourself and are an average surfer you should totally join a surf camp! You will meet a lot of cool people and improve your surf skills at the same time!

WHY I LOVED SURFING WITH STAR SURF CAMP

FUERTEVENTURA-27
The light of the sun throught the blue waves, the salt on your face, your body feeling alive and part of nature after the surf session when lying on the beach with the salt in your hair and the sunset in your eyes.
This is why I love surfing, but being with the right crowd made it all even more extraordinary.
With Star Surf Camp I only met smiling faces, enthusiastic people, and expert advices.
Just about everything I needed to have the perfect surf experience.
And the school is located in the pictouresque village of El Cotillo, right on its white sandy beach.

An advice?
For a total Star Surf Camp experience book yourself in the Fuerteventura Surf Camp!
I didn’t do it, and if there’s something I’m sure about is that next time I’m not going to miss that part of the adventure!

Do you surf?

Are you self taught or did you take any course?

This looks like so much fun! I only went surfing once in Byron Bay a couple of years ago. But I hope to try it again this summer while traveling in Central America.

Hi Stef! Wow surfing in central America sounds so much fun! Let me know how it is! :)
I also surfed once in Byron Bay – it wasn’t very successful as I didn’t know how to surf but it certainly was beautiful there! :)

Oh hi again! This looks like a lot of fun and I’ve considered giving it a try, but sometimes laying in the sun instead wins every time :)
